Thanksgiving Books For Toddlers And Preschoolers

I love having holiday themed books to read to my toddler. I noticed while going through her board books that we had a lot of Halloween books and tons of Christmas books but no Thanksgiving holiday books so I went to find some on Amazon. I thought I’d share the ones I found in case other families are looking to add some Thanksgiving books to their little one’s bookshelf, too.

Five Silly Turkeys (Board Book)

Toddlers will love the silly Thanksgiving turkeys in this fun counting book full of silly turkeys doing very silly things!  From twirling on a dance floor to being chased by a bee to tanning in the sun, these are no ordinary Thanksgiving turkeys. This shiny fabric–tabbed book is a holiday treat that is sure to be gobbled up quickly.

Thanksgiving is for Giving Thanks (Paperback)

Sure, Thanksgiving is about pilgrims and history–and turkey, of course!–but most importantly, it’s a holiday all about everything that we are thankful for. Cheerful, colorful illustrations accompany the simple text in this celebration of family, friends, and the holiday that brings them all together.

Llama Llama Gives Thanks (Board Book)

In Llama Llama Gives Thanks, it’s Thanksgiving time for Llama Llama and his family! That means yummy foods and autumn leaves and being thankful for everything from pumpkin pies to blue skies. Thanksgiving may only come once year, but in Llama’s family, giving thanks is always here!

With short and simple rhyming text, the Llama Llama board books introduce Llama Llama to babies and toddlers before they’re ready for longer full-length stories. And their small size and durable pages are perfect for little hands.

I Am Thankful (Paperback)

Thanksgiving books for kids teach us about coming together with our loved ones and to give thanks for all that we have. I Am Thankful is an adorable, rhyming storybook that follows three different families as they celebrate the holiday with their own traditions, acts of kindness, and ways of giving back.

Kids will learn how to be thankful for the people and world around them as they delight in the sweet illustrations that show diverse families and exciting Thanksgiving adventures. This heartfelt, poetic story will show young ones the meaning of giving and sharing.

Where is Baby’s Turkey? (Board Book)

Little ones will love this new lift-the-flap board book from Karen Katz that’s perfect for Thanksgiving!

Gobble, gobble! It’s time for Thanksgiving! In this interactive book from bestselling author Karen Katz, little ones can lift the sturdy, easy-to-lift flaps on each page to look for Baby’s turkey stuffed animal. Filled with bright, striking art, this book is sure to get little ones excited for the festive family holiday!

Bear Says Thanks (Hardcover)

Bear has come up with the perfect way to say thanks—a nice big dinner! When Bear decides to throw a feast, his friends show up one by one with different platters of delicious food to share. There’s just one problem: Bear’s cupboards are bare! What is he to do?

Karma Wilson’s playful text and Jane Chapman’s charming illustrations bring to life this celebration of family and friendship. Young readers will delight in discovering the special gift Bear has to share.

A Very Thankful Prayer (Board Book)

Help your little one grow gratitude as you join adorable animals thanking God for everyday blessings with this sweet fall-themed board book. From watching the autumn leaves fall to picking pumpkins from the patch, from sharing a Thanksgiving meal with loved ones to learning how to give–there’s so much to be thankful for! Cultivate a grateful heart in your little one with this thank-you prayer to God, who gives us every good thing.

This read-aloud board book encourages toddlers and preschoolers to notice all the good things around them; models how to pray with a thankful heart; engages young children with simple rhyming text, cute illustrations, and foiled leaves on the cover; and makes a meaningful low-budget gift for fall and Thanksgiving celebrations.

Peppa Gives Thanks (Paperback)

Peppa Pig has so much to be thankful for! Suzy Sheep has a new teddy bear, and Peppa wants one, too! Mummy and Daddy Pig remind Peppa that she already has her own teddy–and so much more!

This storybook includes an exclusive Peppa Pig card for readers to fill in what they are most thankful for.

Biscuit is Thankful (Board Book)

This sweet and simple board book is sure to be a favorite in your family—curl up with your toddler to share some important things to be thankful for. Biscuit is thankful for his bone, his biscuits, and lots more, too. Sweet puppy! Woof!

Generations of children have been introduced to reading by Biscuit, the little yellow puppy.

Thank You, Omu (Hardcover)

(This one’s not exactly a Thanksgiving book but the themes of Thanksgiving run all throughout this book so I threw it on the list because it has great reviews and I’m trying to add more diversity to my daughter’s bookshelf.)

Everyone in the neighborhood dreams of a taste of Omu’s delicious stew! One by one, they follow their noses toward the scrumptious scent. And one by one, Omu offers a portion of her meal. Soon the pot is empty. Has she been so generous that she has nothing left for herself?

10 Fall Sensory Tables For Kids

I love sensory tables. It could be the preschool teacher in me or the fact that my children, who have sensory processing issues, enjoy playing in the table for long periods of time. I’m already thinking of Autumn themed tables so I wanted to share mine with you and 9 others I found online:

After this picture was taken I also added pinecones, fake apples, and cups/scoops
