Thanks to Tampico for sponsoring this post.
I love the holidays and one of the main reasons why is all of the extra family fun Christmastime brings. From cuddling on the couch while we watch Christmas movies to decorating our home for the holidays and having special drinks and treats. Tampico is a staple in our fridge, and during the winter months we love the Apple Punch flavor. It’s so festive! Many of my most cherished memories are made during the month of December. Another tradition we have each year is making holiday crafts. Ornaments are my favorite craft to make with my boys because I love pulling them out of the box each year when we decorate our Christmas tree.
Our tree is loaded with ornaments, from apple ornaments gifted to me when I was a teacher to our yearly family personalized dough ornaments to ornaments I was given as a child. The homemade ornaments stand out most of all though. There are colorful painted ornaments, jingle bells formed into candy cane shapes, and pictures of my children’s faces surrounded by carefully placed sequins. It’s fun to look back on the ornaments my boys have made in past years.
This past weekend I gathered everything we’d need to make ornaments. I found some tree shapes and round ornament shapes to decorate along with sparkly pompoms, sequins, red and green colored letters and holiday glitter glue. To get us in the holiday mood I also found some holiday cups with red straws and Christmas napkins and set out a snack of holiday cookies and of course our favorite Tampico Apple Punch! The perfect set-up to keep any family fueled for the crafting session.
Once I got everything set up, the boys got to work making their ornaments. Lucas went with the “a lot is good but more is better” approach and piled on the pom poms and glitter glue while Jacob was very particular and put each sequin on carefully. Years from now I’ll still remember whose ornament is whose because they decorated them according to their personalities as always.
The boys had a lot of fun making the ornaments. I really love this yearly tradition!
Does your family like to craft together during the holidays? If so, I’d love to hear what you make together in the comments below.
