This post is sponsored by Target. I’m a Target Brand Ambassador but all thoughts are my own.
It’s summertime which means we are in the middle of the U.S. soccer season. Growing up in Croatia, soccer (or “football” as it’s known in Europe) has always been an important part of my life. When I was younger we played it on the playground every day and I played club soccer also. Soccer has always been my favorite sport and while I don’t play it any more, I still love to watch it. I’m not alone in my love for the sport. Soccer is the biggest multicultural sport in the world. I am very happy that it has grown in popularity here in the States.
Since I have called Chicago my home for almost 2 decades one of my favorite soccer teams is the Chicago Fire. This summer is extra exciting for Chicago as the MLS All-Star Game is going to be played in Chicago at Soldier Field on August 2nd and four members of the Chicago Fire have been named to the MLS All-Star roster. For those who do not follow soccer this is an event where some of the biggest stars of MLS will face off against Real Madrid from Spain. This will be an epic event and I can’t wait to watch it!
Target recently announced their major investment in U.S. soccer and are the Presenting Sponsor of the 2017 MLS All-Star game. They also became an Official Partner of Major League Soccer, the jersey sponsor for Minnesota United FC and the Official Retailer of US Youth Soccer. Additionally they provided a grant to the U.S. Soccer Foundation.
Target’s move into soccer makes sense because they are the retailer where many families, including mine, gets all of our soccer essentials from. My oldest has been playing soccer since he was 3 years old and now he plays league soccer during the spring and indoor soccer in the winter. Target is our one stop shop for all our needs from shin guards to game day snacks to soccer goals that help kids practice at home.
Target is also where we get our soccer balls. As kids grow they use different size soccer balls depending on regulations of the leagues they are in and Target has all the different sizes in stock. My boy’s love the selection, especially the soccer balls that are neon colored. Can you believe that Target sold one million soccer balls in 2016!? That’s a lot of families playing soccer!
With the MLS All-Star game quickly approaching we are excited and getting ready to celebrate this big event in the soccer world. We found all our party essentials like snacks and decorations at Target. I even bought a shirt for myself and shirts for the boys to show our soccer pride.
I hope you’ll follow along and chat with me Wednesday night as I share our homegating party fun on social media while we watch the big game. If you live in the Chicago area or will be in town for the game, be on the lookout for all sorts of Target sponsored events across the city throughout the week along with awesome in-stadium experiences.
How are you getting ready for the MLS All-Star game?
Well, I love Target and I love soccer so this was a great post!! Your boys are adorable and I am glad they have found a sport they enjoy!!
This is an awesome sale! We’re a soccer family, too – in addition to being a swim family. So, you know, we need all the savings we can get.
I love to shop at Target. They always have what I am looking for at a great price. I am so happy to hear that they are doing so much to help kids.
My kids played a lot of soccer when they were kids. I will have to try to join you for the homegating party fun on social media.
I played soccer when I was little. In fact I played for many years and really enjoyed it. So far, we are a Football family now. My son plays football and I play dodgeball. I love that Target is doing so much to help!
Target has everything you need for soccer it seems. I don’t really follow soccer but when I do catch a game on TV I enjoy watching the action.
My step kids both played soccer in school – and we usually shopped at Target. I’m glad to see they will be adding soccer stuff to their shelves. It definitely makes sense!
My daughter is most interested in basketball but she expressed interested in trying soccer this year. We use target for a lot of our back to school and athletic shopping
I like how Target keeps their selection fresh and new! My boys are a little too young for soccer, but I am sure that one of them will be soccer fans in a few years. They like kicking the ball around outside already. I bet I will be visiting the soccer aisle at Target soon enough!
I had no idea that Target was participating in Soccer sports, very cool! My daughter plays soccer and loves it! I love that I was able to find everything she needed at Target.
My kids played soccer for one season. They just didn’t do well and it frustrated them. I guess it wasn’t their thing! But they love to watch it on television.
This is a fun partnership! We are the biggest Target fans!!!
I love me some Target. I recently got into soccer too, since our team here in Kansas City does pretty well. Your sons are adorable!
Soccer is something that every skill level, age and sex can appreciate. It’s great Target is getting behind it in a big way.
So are we! I love it!! Soccer is a family tradition of ours and we do a lot of our soccer shopping at Target as weel. Our next purchase will be bigger shin guards for my daughter, she is growing!
Aww, your little one looks so smart in his kit :) My other half keeps trying to persuade our youngest to take up soccer but he’s not interested at the mo. He wants to take drama and dance lessons as he wants to work in theatre when he’s older!

My son is eight and we just got him his first official soccer ball. I love the idea of implementing sports into a kids life.
My kids didn’t really get into soccer but when my brother was little I remember sitting through many games and practices. I love how it is inclusive of all ages and skill levels. This is a great partnership with Target.
Our kids loved playing soccer when they were younger, but unfortunately, our little school doesn’t have a soccer team so they had to stop.
My son (who is a HUGE soccer fan) just about fell over when he saw the Mexico and USA jerseys at Target. I love that Target has such a great sports section. My kids just love browsing the aisles for new soccer equipment.
Target is indeed the one stop shop for everything we need.. and didn’t think we need. You step in there needing a toothpaste and you come out with a cart full of stuff. Haha. I have yet to check their soccer gear, will check one of these days so I can get the girls to start playing a sport.
I am a bit far from the NFL but I am incredibly happy with your family soccer journey. And I absolutely agree with Target being a great shopping choice – that is where smart shoppers go
Fun! It’s always nice when you can get the kids in a good sport or activity of some sort. Soccer is a great one!
My daughter loves to play soccer at school. A nd I know that Target does so much to sponsor things in the community. That’s awesome that they have gotten into sponsoring soccer as well. I should check out to see where they sponsor it locally.
Our family is all about sports (baseball) and this awesome that Target has such a wonderful program.
