Did you know that one in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime? With that statistic I think it’s safe to say that everyone who reads this post has either experienced violence or has a loved one or friend who has been physically abused by a domestic partner. Maybe some of you reading this are still in an abusive situation and you feel too scared to leave. Even more saddening is that someone reading this might think this abuse is somehow their fault or they may feel stuck in the situation they are in and feel like they can’t leave. To them I just want to say, it’s not your fault. You did nothing to cause this and I am begging you to reach out to someone you know and trust to help you get out of the situation you are in. Leaving a violent relationship requires one to be brave because they are leaving a situation they are familiar with but guess what? You will NEVER be alone in the journey. There is a whole network of women who want to support you and show you that you deserve a better life!
Brave Woman is an online community of people who believe that every woman who escapes domestic violence is not a victim but someone who is strong and brave. They provide support and resources to those starting their lives all over again so that they can become independent and start the healing process. The website gives women a chance to share their stories and the opportunity to listen to and learn from women who have gone through similar situations.
