These are the parenting books on my bookshelf that I can’t wait to read:
1) “The Power of A Praying Parent” by Stormie Omartian
2) “Raising a Reader” by Jennie Nash
3) “What Every Mom Needs” by Elisa Morgan and Carol Kuykendall
4) “Relationship-Empowerment Parenting” by Judy & Jack Balswick and Boni & Don Piper
5) “What Kids Need Most In A Mom” by Patricia H. Rushford
6) “The Modern Girl’s Guide to Motherhood” by Jane Buckingham
7) “Parenting in the Pew” by Robbie Castleman
8) “How To Talk So Kids Can Learn” by Adele Faber & Elaine Mazlish
9) “Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours” by Dr. Kevin Leman
10) “Raising Sons and Loving It!” by Gary and Carrie Oliver
Have you read any of these books? What did you think?
Are there any you would recommend that I add to my reading list?
I’ve never heard of Raising a Reader. It sounds like one I would like.
Awesome list! I have read #1,2,3,5,8,9, and would love to recommend Bringing Up Boys and Bringing Up Girls by James Dobson. Also, Tucking In A Superhero.
I’ve read #3 and #7. I have #1 on my to-be-read list. I haven’t really read that many parenting books I guess because I’m not thinking of any others to recommend.
I just finished “And Then I Had Kids” by Susan Alexander Yates and LOVED it! I highly recommend it! It’s actually written for mothers w/more than one child, but we only have one and I found it to be so helpful and encouraging!
Great list, btw! I just got Grace Based Parenting from the library yesterday – can’t wait to start it! I’ll have to check some of the other ones out, too! You can never learn too much when it comes to parenting, riiiight? :)
I haven’t read these, but the titles sound great. A few I’ve read recently and LOVED are Unconditional Parenting by Alfie Kohn and Raising An Emotionally Intelligent Child by John Gottman.
Shepherding a Child’s Heart by Ted Tripp
Instructing a Child’s Heart by Ted Tripp
Don’t Make Me Count to Three! by Ginger Plowman
Getting ready to read The Ministry of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson
Definitely ‘Shepherding a Child’s Heart” by Ted Tripp. And ‘Leading Little Ones to God”.
Just found your blog – I am trying to find more people who are exploring parenting philosophies. I just started a blog at parentingbits.wordpress.com to pull out some interesting tidbits of parenting books that I read to explore different ideas. Maybe you will enjoy it!
