This week is Fire Prevention Week which was established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Every year in America, over 4000 people die and more than 20,000 are injured in fires. I wanted to share ten resources for families to learn more about fire safety:
1) National Fire Protection Association’s Tips For Kids (they have a printable home fire escape plan on their site, too)
2) Sparky.org– Games, an online storybook, and more. Includes a Fire Inspection Checklist for kids
3) Fire safety resources from Scholastic
4) Fire safety tips from PBSkids.org and Arthur
5) Sprout’s website has fire safety resources for children and a Junior Firefighter badge they can make
6) Fire Safety Coloring Sheets to print
7) Fire Safety Crafts for children to make
8) Fireman Sam fire safety resources and coloring pages (this is Luke’s favorite show)
9) Sesame Street Fire Safety Station
